One of the most important things we do at CCL is to let our elected representatives and business leaders know what is important to us. On these pages, you can find current national and local issues that need your voice.

Help get out the vote
As we approach election day, it’s vitally important that environmentalists VOTE. Unfortunately, many do not. CCL has teamed with the Environmental Voter Project to sponsor a number of activities to activate hesitant voters. Check out our calendar page for a number of activities that include in-person and phone canvassing and tabling all designed to encourage more participation in our democracy and make climate a big winner this election day!
Double Down on Permitting Reform
At CCL’s Lobby Day, we asked Members of Congress to support a bipartisan clean energy permitting reform package. Now, Congress needs to hear from all of us.
A bill is now before the Senate, and it could pass in the lame-duck, after the election. Known as the Energy Permitting and Reform Act, or EPRA, it has been analyzed by respected energy modeling experts and could be a big win for climate, resulting in approximately a 10% reduction in US CO2 emissions by 2050. For more about the bill, see our special information page here.
Without permitting reform, roughly half of the potential carbon pollution reductions from the IRA will be lost.
July 8th NYT op-ed by Heatmap’s publisher, Robinson Meyer, describes the need for permitting reform, using our own SunZia transmission line as an example: It Takes Too Many Studies for the Government to Do the Right Thing – The New York Times (nytimes.com)
Support your lobby team by writing Congress. CCL has made it easy to do with this link to email your entire delegation at one time.
